This weekend IMATS hit New York City in full pretty force. I had the pleasure of attending with celebrity makeup artist Mia "Mimi J" Johnson. IMATS, the international makeup artist tradeshow, was the must have ticket in town for beauty enthusiasts, makeup artists and visual effects artists. From what I hear, the LA show is even more exciting with brands from all over and a more bountiful beauty palette of booths to visit.
It's funny, anytime I visit a store like MAC or Sephora, I'm instantly overwhelmed. I feel like, "I already have a color like that", or "that lipstick isn't gonna work..will it?". IMATS was no different, but I was determined to take advantage of the PRO discount afforded to the artists attending. It pays to have pretty friends! Thanks MIMI!
I only made 3 stops, NYX, Inglot and Sugarpill. Although I wanted to visit others like LimeCrime and Sigma, the LimeCrime line was all the way to Hoboken, and time was fleeting because I needed to prepare for the #PrettyInTheCity event. (search the hashtag, it was a blast).
NYX is one of my personal favorites when it comes to anything outside of foundations, I'm a MAC girl when it comes to the face. The once "drugstore" brand has now risen through the beauty ranks and is now considered somewhat of a pro product, dwelling in the makeup kits of many professional makeup artists and the pseudo ones like me! Not only is the brand highly pigmented, its also easy to find, affordable and accessible should you run out just before an important social soiree that requires a "beat" face. Recently opening doors in TARGET and beefing up their social presence, NYX is officially a beauty force to be reckoned with.
Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam (lighter) and Gleam (darker). Eyeshadows: Rehab (green), LOL (matte burnt orange), Butterscotch (yellow) and Ultraviolet (purple) and Blush in Angel.
Two Timer dual end eyeliner (new to the brand), Lip pencils (L to R) deep purple, purple rain, and pinky. Wonder pencil (for my waterline) in light and the blackest of black matte eyeshadows "hot black" primal colors.
Next up, I visited the Sugarpill booth. They had lots of pretty chics with fab hair and even more trendy glam makeup.
Best known for their quad palettes of highly pigmented bright colors, I had to at least get one. New York City doesn't lend itself to over the top daily makeup, so I bypassed purchasing the quad set and bought this "velocity" eyeshadow from the original collection. This deep blue has a matte application with a subtle sheen finish. Every glam girl needs a good go-to blue. Thanks Sugarpill.
My last beauty stop was the Inglot booth. Known for extreme pigments with long lasting stay all day power, it was imperative that I stopped by for a glam pick-me-up.
With so many options to choose from, it was a little difficult to narrow my selection to something I really needed. As a note, Inglot is best purchased when you actually have an Inglot pro tray/case to put the makeup in. Otherwise, like myself, you end up with ONE lowly blush that doesn't fit into anything. All the same, I adore the hot pink "AMC Blush 62" from Inglot. It pairs perfectly when wearing my pale pink or matte pink lipstick. It also add just the right amount of color with wearing a more simple clean beauty look.
